Food and Drink Testing

The food and drink industry compromises one the largest and diverse industries in the world. The Food Standards Agency defines the range of the food and drink industry as ranging:

"from farming and food production, packaging and distribution, to retail and catering"

The revenue generated from the industry is massive. For example, the sales generating from processed foods worldwide in 2004 amounted to US.2 trillion, (A figure we find pretty hard to fathom as well!)

Although it comes under the umbrella term of 'the food industry', there are in fact many different sectors:

• Agriculture

• Distribution (eg transportation)

• Food processing  (eg fresh produce, prepared foods)

• Manufacturing (eg agrochemicals, seeds etc)

• Regulation (eg food quality and food safety legislation)

• Research and Development

• Retail

Although initially it may seem like some of these sectors would not be connected with us, in actuality all these sectors may require a range of tests, analysis and evidence which we can help out with.
