Agriculture and Soil Testing

Agriculture refers to the production of goods through the growing of plants, animals and other life forms. It has played a key role in the development of human civilization allowing humans to settle and give up their previous hunter-gatherer lifestyle.

Hanna Instruments manufactures chemical test kits and instruments to help in the analysis of soil and water to ensure the farmer and agriculturist can measure and maintain the ideal growing conditions for their crops.

Key ways we can help:

  • Conductivity - used to measure the total disolved salts within the water and soil thus helping to ascertain the levels of fertilizer, pexticides and so on.
  • Humidity - relative humidity of certain crops when stored or dryed is critical, such as shallot and onion drying and storage.
  • pH - measures the acidity or alkalinity of the water and soil, which in turn affects plant growth.
  • Temperature - crop storage and composting both require temperature monitoring to ensure less waste.
  • Soil test kits - in addition to the above, these provide accurate analysis of Nitrogen, Phosphorus and Potassium levels of the soil and water.
