The 145-20 features an extra long reach 12"(30cm) stainless steel probe to allow safe and easy measurement of hot oils. Housed in a completely waterproof T-handle shaped case, the temperature is displayed on a large clear LCD display on top of the meter.
For temperatures above +150C, it is normally necessary to use a thermometer that does not have enough accuracy to be used as a chilled foods checker.
The HI-145-20 complies with the accuracy requirements of the food safety legislation, yet offers the ability to read high temperatures as well. A calibration check sequence on start up is built-in to the thermometer for even further peace of mind.
