Silica is found in all natural water in dissolved mineral form. Silica is only slightly soluble in water, solubility, and therefore the form of silica in water, depends on the pH levels of the water and on the minerals containing silica in contact with water.
Silica in industrial applications such as high pressure turbines, heating systems and reverse osmosis systems is undesirable as it causes scale to form.
The Hanna HI-93705 Silica Meter is extremely easy to use and gives direct readout on the digital display in mg/L(ppm). To obtain a reading simply take a small sample of water in the glass cuvette supplied, add the reagent (not included), and then place the cuvette in the measuring chamber of the instrument.
